Money is general, is used to buy one thing. Time!
Think about it , what do you use your money for?
For food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, travel?
Let us broadly categorize that as a ‘good healthy lifestyle ‘.
What does that add to our life? Longevity!
Also Prosperity ,mental health , happiness? Yes.
And all of that arguably contribute to longevity, again.
In a philosophical sense ,building on the ideas of French philosopher ‘ Albert Camus’ ,
Money does buy you time!
For instance, when I spend more money to buy an air ticket over a train ticket to my home town,
it saves me 2 days of travel to and fro. That’s 48 hours spend in the rail carriages .
Air travel takes me 6 hours .
Purely in terms of saving time, the time I intend to spend with my family at home, I save
around 42 hours.
Which is something similar to what Michelle Obama recalls in ‘Becoming’ as her father’s idea of time:
“Something I can gift to my loved ones”.
I try to follow this even when I am to spend money on my voice over business.
Does building a vocal booth save me all the post processing time I spend on removing noise, reverb. Hell yes!
Even with my obsessive compulsion to geek out on gadgets and to acquire them at any cost, I do contemplate..
Does this save my time?
In addition, Money also buys luxury.
There is food and junk food.
Clothing and fashion.
Transportation and sports cars.
Does a Neumann U87 save my time in… No!..No and No!. Ok.
Not ready for that happiness and longevity yet!
