Nike CrossFit Shoes:
Nike is a renowned brand in the fitness world, offering a wide range of CrossFit-compatible options. Here are some of the best Nike choices for your CrossFit journey:
Nike MC Trainer 2 (Price range in INR: 5-6k)
- Ideal for general CrossFit workouts with a focus on metcons.
- Offers good support and stability for dynamic exercises like box jumps and double-unders.
- Not recommended for heavy barbell work like squats, cleans and snatches, but still do the job for squats and lifts a whole lot better than most running shoes.
Nike Free Metcon 4 and 5 (Price range in INR: 9-11k)
- A hybrid shoe combining stability from the Nike Metcon series and cushioning from the Free-Running series.
- More stability than Metcon series and extra cushioning makes it suitable for both running and a variety of CrossFit exercises, including box jumps, double-unders etc.
- Owing to its outsole design ,not recommended for activities causing shoe abrasion, like rope climbs ,Turkish getups etc.
- It doesn’t really matter whether you buy the Metcon 4 or the 5. They’re very similar, with only minor updates in the 5.
Nike Metcon 7,8,9 (Price range in INR: 11-14k)
- Probably the most globally well known CrossFit shoe with excellent stability and durability.
- The heel has a solid molded insert making them super stable, and great for Olympic and power lifting.
- They have a durable sidewall that improves lateral stability and is designed to withstand abrasive activities like rope climbs.
- The forefoot has enough spring to allow for DUs and other plyometrics.
- Has a clip on the back of the heel to help the shoe slide
up the wall during hand stand push-ups. - Heavier than some alternatives, which may require an adjustment period.
Cons:
- They’re quite heavy and the solid construction makes running in these shoes feel uncomfortable.
- That weight can make box jumps, double unders and toes to bar difficult until you get used to it.
- If you’re used to soft, plush running shoes this is going to be a jarring change so expect some time before your feet and body get used to this type of shoe.
About buying older models Metcon 7,8 :
Sometimes if you buy older stock they don’t last as long.
Maybe the rubber and foam hardens over time or the
glue loses its adhesion. But shoes that sit idle for years
without being bought/used have a tendency to wear
quickly.
Reebok Crossfit Shoes:
Reebok is known for its solid all-around CrossFit shoes. While not as widely available in Mumbai, they are still accessible through online retailers like Ajio, TataCliq, Myntra, and Nykaafashion.
Reebok Nano X, X1, X2, X3 (Price range in INR: 6-12k)
- Highly versatile CrossFit shoes suitable for various activities.
- These lifting shoes offers enough stability , cushion for running, spring for jumping, protection for abrasive rope climbs and have a little heel clip for hand stand push-ups.
- Excels as an all-rounder.
Cons:
- Not specialized for specific tasks.
- Harder to obtain in India. So if you aren’t into the whole online shopping and returning thing. These might not be worth the effort.
- If you’re used to soft, plush running shoes this is going to be a jarring change so expect some time before your feet and body get used to this type of shoe.
Puma CrossFit Shoes :
Puma may be an underdog in the CrossFit shoe market, but it offers a reliable option:
Puma Fuse 2.0 (Price range in INR: 7-9k)
- An updated version of the original Fuse shoe with improved performance.
- A mid-point between Metcons and Nanos, prioritizing stability and lifting.
- Stable rear foot, springy forefoot, grippy outsole, protection form abrasion and the now weirdly common heel clip for HSPU’s
- Affordable and functional
- Versatile allrounder.
Cons:
- Lacks a premium feel.
- Not as versatile as the Reebok Nanos

Adidas offers a limited but solid selection of CrossFit-specific shoes:
Adidas Dropset Trainer (Price range in INR: 7-10k)
- A good training shoe with CrossFit elements like stability support and durability sidewalls.
- Comfortable for more explosive workouts like Double Unders and running

Adidas Dropset Trainer 2 (Price range: 11-13k)
- A significant improvement over the original, purpose-built for CrossFit.

Cons:
- Limited color options and relatively new to the market.
